for Black History Month this year, I had the opportunity to design a tote as a gift for Anthropic’s Black employee resource group, Rhythm & Roots. not so fun fact: it used to be illegal for Black people to read. literacy is a form of liberation.
untitled | acrylic, ink on canvas | 24 x 24 in. | 2026 - this painting is inspired by a traditional Filipino weaving pattern called binakul. originating in the northern region of Ilocos/Abra, this form of indigenous op-art was used to ward off evil spirits. binakul represents the desire to connect more deeply to my Filipino ancestry.
untitled | watercolor on canvas | 7 x 5 in. | 2026 - my cup of tea held a pleasant surprise one morning. inspired action can come from unexpected places.
yellow | acrylic, graphite on paper | 5 x 7 in. | 2024 - i love you
